Michael Ryan@andyjennings I used to run a large first-year uni course with a group assignment. Malfunctioning groups were common, but we also allowed dissenting submissions and (most importantly) included a compulsory reflective component that focused on collaborative processes (or lack thereof). Lazy students found this part very difficult (or quickly changed their attitude).
