@bobhenryphotos do you happen to know the species? It looks like a lactarius. I wonder if it were scored, would it produce a sticky, white, milky substance (called "latex")?

@thickurt I know virtually nothing about mushrooms, but they certainly look like the ones you show from Wikipedia
