Due to planned engineering works today, our service is only running between Rainham and Plumstead.

I have quite a short job today, which is not what I want on a Sunday. As Sunday isn’t part of our working week, all Sunday work is overtime at an enhanced rate, so ideally we’d prefer long, 9+ hour shifts.

I drive from
Gillingham to Rainham, up to Plumstead, back to Rainham and then back to Gillingham, where I have an hour break. We have quite a few “spare” drivers today, so hopefully one of them will do the last Gillingham to Rainham to Gillingham part for me so that I can have a longer break.

After the break, I drive from
Gillingham to Plumstead and back to Gillingham, where I’m done for the night.

Shifts with less work on the second half than on the first half are always preferable and it seems that usually, Sunday shifts are back-heavy, so today’s shorter, front-heavy shift isn’t such a terrible thing.
