I gotta admit, I thought "we run death camps, there's one down the road" would have been the line for the average red-blooded American.

At that point, that they live in a Nazi-occupied country would be an undeniable fact and that they had to do whatever it took to fix that would be the conversation.

I seriously over-estimated American morality.

And boy did I ever low-ball their cowardice, laziness, and stupidity.

@adwright

The same can be said by every democrat.

@EthicalProfessor

I honestly do not know what that means.

Democrats are not separate from this, they built the incarceration complex as much as the GOP have, are as complicit in the wars, kowtow to the money the same, fail to deliver on quality of life issues in favor of oligarchs.

The last 40 years were not all GOP governments but all the trends all got worse just the same. You think it's happenstance US infant and maternal mortality rates are 4-10 times worse than in Canada?

@adwright

Over the last century democrats have generally claimed to hold themselves to a higher standard than the GOP. Yet as you point out, their actions have been far from consistent with their claims.

American morality? It's nice thought.

Perhaps someday we will truly develop it. But to do so requires democrats to look in a mirror.

@EthicalProfessor

I guess we'll see real soon now about American morality. Is there any or was it just a mirage of Hollywood screenwriting and decades of morality-fable TV?

Not looking good for the white hats but hope springs eternal, like having herpes.

If I may abuse Gandhi's quote: β€œWhat Do You Think of [American morality]?” β€œI Think It Would Be a Good Idea”
