So is solarpunk only locked to solar energy or are other sources still acceptable into the aesthetic ​

The problem with solarpunk 'aestethic' is that it doesn't exists.

There isn't universal piece of media that we can point to showcase the aesthetic.

For cyberpunk we have bladerunner, for diselpunk we have mad max.

Only media that I came across that is not super nieche would be Pearlescentmoon's Hermitcraft 10 base.

There is real solarpunk that is happening right now. If you go to countryside and count all the photovoltaic and solar boilers, you would be surprised at how many there are. And in real solarpunk nuclear has it's place as it moves us away from carbon-based fuels.
