In the Hunt article, I disagree with statements made in the writing as someone who wants to go into law enforcement and someone who is in a program similar to the academy. I see firsthand some of the things described in the article. It very well is different out in the real world versus the academy, and you do have to approach situations differently, rather than as you would in the academy. #so345
Although it's true, we have to remember that fake scenarios aren't real people. There are bad officers out there who hold their power the wrong way. But should we take away power from those who are there to help us? Yes, certain genders, races, class get treated differently. We have to continue to do training and evaluations. Not every person who holds power is bad or wants to follow after others. #so345
@beachgirl2025 I agree with this statement because out on the street with your adrenaline pumping instinct takes over and you react quickly. Sometimes you don't have time to think about what you learned and what the best strategy is you just have to trust yourself and what your superiors and instincts have taught you. It is different when you are just talking about scenarios, but when you are put into those situations your instincts take over and you have to trust them. #so345
