The motorcycle scenes in #TheKissingBooth were filmed on the R44 between Gordons Bay and Rooiels east of Cape Town, a road I worked on when it was reconstructed in 1998. https://maps.app.goo.gl/N2PEUR9BMPwDyA4u7

The gabion walls and rock barrier walls were built using labor-based construction methods with workers from the local community compensated for how much work they did. So per metre of ditch dug, per gabion basket filled, etc. They intentionally employed many women to do the work, not just men.

If you were wondering if the high school from #TheKissingBooth is familiar, it's also the high school in #BloodAndWater, also known as Upper Campus Residence, a men's residence hall at the University of Cape Town. The scenes for the field day in #TheKissingBooth2 are the rugby fields below the res. The steps from the rugby fields to Jamison Hall (where my graduation ceremony was held) feature a few times in #TheKissingBooth

The best roadway drainage design engineer I've ever known was simply disqualified from field work in 65+ mph zones because she was 5 ft tall and slender.
There was no way she could meet the minimum visible square inches of high viz fabric required.
