Genesis - Genesis

This starts off strong with the eerie Mama, although it feels like it belongs on a Collins solo LP... as do a few more of the tracks here.

At this point, Genesis has really become a pop band, with a few "proggier" tracks popping up here and there (especially towards the end). I think this LP was probably their biggest selling one, and may be the peak of their post-prog period.

@dnanian this was really the only post-Gabriel Genesis I listened to, and as I recall, I first heard it as a late-party-after-most-people-had-left album. Although I think “Mama” transitioned to a driving-home-at-one-AM-unrequited-love-sad-frustrated song. Ahh high school. I miss my 1980 VW Rabbit Diesel…

@scottymac Well, he’s at least obsessed with her… it’s a pretty creepy song. (It’s a *good* song! But it’s creepy…that laugh is not the sign of a healthy person.)
