The only reason to do this to Beirut is pure evil spite. Lebanon is so torn up, and just gets kicked by one power after another (including Hezbollah)

Beirut is the capital city, not a Islamist fortification or something. When I was there the locals immediately bought me arak and we swapped stories all damn night.

I have never met the people of another nation as cool, chill, and funny as the Lebanese. I am extremely sad.

@quinn Take alook at the map the IDF assassins wear as a patch in their sleeves, it's the "Greater Israel", the promised land, which includes Lebanon, parts of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. They're on a mission. Same as in Gaza.
@quinn It's horrible. Looks like humans have not learnt anything and are doomed to repeat every insanity and every time we get "better" at doing them .
@ghostdancer we do though, even if it's three steps forward and two steps back. History can be a real comfort here; there's so many things that were worse in the past, some that menace us still, but others that have really gone to the dustbin of history. things like smallpox being gone, and slavery being universally illegal. antibiotics and the aspiration of universal education and healthcare.. it's not enough, but it's also not nothing.
@quinn You're right I might be taken away by the dark and grim times we're living right now.
@ghostdancer everything is transitory, sometimes that's a tragedy and sometimes it's a blessing.
