@d01 so i'm guessing you cut a CD of a chunk of some radio broadcast from autechre.ws? if so, you gotta say which piece made the cut...
@tsrono Ahh, this is an ancient CDr of an mp3 of their 12-hr mix, around 2010?
@tsrono I still can't believe they were able to accomplish such a feat

@d01 ah, i saw the 1:14:19 just 1 file and assumed it was cut to CD length audio...mp3 CDRs were top tier for sure. hell yeah.

i think they mentioned in an Ask Autechre Anything that they had some/most bits pre-recorded for all of those long radio shows they did back then? i could be misremembering that tho, my memory is shit...

i used to pop them on often enough back when, someone had just cut them all right at 1 hour each i think it was, was a nice thing to drop on randomly

@d01 & i'd been there live for a couple of them, chatting on WATMM or elsewhere, can't remember exactly which ones now
@tsrono Yeah, WATMM or Xltronic.
I'm sure you know of their 6-hour (?) mixes from around 2006? Mainly acid/house/electro stuff, if I recall. A crazy amount of music.

@d01 been a long time since i listened to any of those i don't think (not that i've listened to the others exactly recently either...) but i've still got 'em in a a folder, yeah...need to revisit, will dl them to my phone, never a bad idea.

def heard lots of cool stuff in these over the years. always a bit of a peek behind the curtain hearing extensive mixes like that from musicians. it can contextualize things in interesting ways, but if nothing else just generally good tastes from musicians.

@tsrono Absolutely. One common thread in Autechre's music is the influence of hiphop. So many tracks have this "bounce" that may not be so obvious, but it's there. Like "Calbruc" (Chiastic Slide)--that's a hiphop track--just filtered through their experience.
@d01 💯 def yeah. maybe most obvious on Draft imho but surely throughout most stuff, it's in there
@tsrono Yeah, an ancient 650mb mp3 burned to a CDr. Quality is crap, but still kinda the best thing ever. I got so many great music recommendations from their mixes.
You're right about that AAA answer.
