🚨 #GNOME 50 will be released on March 18!

😍 Star or/and boost this post if you're excited! With 5 more days to go we just asked our developers to drop their final GNOME 50 release of their projects.

#Linux #Opensource

@gnome I've boosted, but fyi (and you may already know this, apologies if so) starring does nothing since there's no algorithmic feeds. Just highlighting since folks might think starring helps with reach like it does on other platforms.
@jonathan Thank you for letting us know!
Indeed, we were not aware. /Maria
@gnome @jonathan favorites count as an interaction which is used to calculate the “trending” posts on instances, so it's not completely useless! It also helps us know what posts resonate with people. No it's not the same as legacy social media but it still has its purposes.

@cassidy

... are y'all talking about the read receipt button? 😜

@gnome Gnome is my preferred desktop already and it keeps getting better with every release. Looking forward to it :)
Thank you to all the devs, artists, translators and everyone else helping with it ❤
@gnome I'm using GNOME 50 already with archlinux gnome-unstable and it's great.

@froschi @gnome I switched to Fedora’s Budgie spin about a year ago due to some bug I’m sure I caused. I definitely miss the full customization options that Gnome offers though. Any real downsides to Gnome 50? I’ve been using Fedora/Gnome full time since 2011, and I’m curious if I’m missing out!

For the record, I love Gnome so this isn’t any attempt to sway anyone’s attention elsewhere!

@desantis @froschi @gnome well, depends what you consider a downside😛
@tragivictoria @froschi @gnome Ha! So true. As long as there’s still extension support, including the tweak tool, then there are no downsides!
@gnome I think gnome is a great desktop environment for my living room PC. Great visibility from my couch, plus intuitive design.

Thank you, Gnome! :)
@gnome I love Gnome ❤️
@gnome Looking forward to testing out the RDP improvments.
@gnome waiting till the day of gnome 67
@zaki @gnome and gnome 69 a year later

@gnome Gnome 50 looks great. I have heard that session restore is not yet part of the release. Do you know, if it is an experimental feature or if it hasn't been included at all. If the latter, do you guess it will come with 50.x or rather 52?

#Gnome #Gnome50 #Wayland #Sessionrestore

@GerryT @gnome It has not been included at all. I was aiming to get it out in GNOME 50 but it wasn't ready so I won't set any expectations. It'll be released when it's ready
