Clustering illusion - jlai.lu

The clustering illusion is the tendency to erroneously consider the inevitable “streaks” or “clusters” arising in small samples from random distributions to be non-random.

Easy, we ‘randomly’ select the samples that support our argument, toss in a few nearby outliers, and call it a trend.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.
