I fucking hate war, but I have to admit that there's a real possibility that we (and they) blow up everyone's oil refineries and we finally wean ourselves off of fossil fuels. The absolutely stupidest and most violent way possible.

Got news for you:16 of the 20 largest oil refineries are not in the middle east, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oil_refineries

Likewise, 4 of the top 6 oil producers are not in the middle east, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_oil_extraction

@Andres4NY Good idea if it was only fuel...

Almost all our fertiliser and plastics come from refineries, either directly or indirectly, so blowing them up can end up in a lot of people going hungry, and a lot of modern products becoming very expensive very quickly.

but I don't actually want permanent low oil prices? But I don't think high oil prices are going to mean a peaceful, death-free transition to renewables, either (independent of this fucking war). Bleh...
