This is, for me, one of the most enraging situations in regard to technology that I have experienced. I frankly don't understand how these companies don't grasp the concept that if their products work with every other product, then everyone is going to want to work with you.

@Richboy50 sometimes you think it’s a bunch of morons running companies.

If you make sure to be compatible everybody wins, if you don’t then everybody fails.

You can not start building market dominance before there is compatibility between vendors. And the the dominance is on user friendliness, service and compatibility.

But no, management is so convinced on their own product they think the can get it all instantly. Morons.

@Richboy50 to be absolutely frank people with executive leadership at tech companies don't actually care whether their product works or not and will actively disbelieve it does if it's convenient for whatever they are trying to do to the company

my company was a major survey company and they claimed data collected around return to office indicated people felt isolated but i tracked down the analytics report and saw that was cherry picked from data relating to less than 3 month tenure employees

@Richboy50 not to mention the ridiculous number of times they've flat out ignored methodology and work done because of political inconvenience for selling the company when listening would have led to material improvements in the long term (literally within a year)

they don't care. they just want money and power. that's what i learned dealing with people at that level

@Richboy50 - On a different tangent than other comments: the "internet of things" has, for me, turned out just to be a giant security vulnerability. My husband is all for it hook/line/sinker, but personally I don't see the benefit of turning on lamps using your phone instead of your hands, or why the refrigerator needs to communicate with...anything at all. We went from a perfectly fine programmable thermostat to one that now spies on us. Even the smoke detectors track our movements. WHY?
