Survivor of 2012 Portland attack wins $198 million in lawsuit

The survivor of a 2012 attack in a Portland park has been awarded $198 million in a civil lawsuit against her attacker, David Strickland.

The details are chilling. Kristene and her girlfriend Mollie Olgin were out on a date. They were assaulted, bound, raped, and shot in the head. Mollie died, and Kristene's life was changed The criminal was a wealthy white boy whose dad own a chain of local business. I didn't have much hope.
A few years ago, David Strickland was found guilty of Mollie's murder. And this week Kristene was awarded $198 million dollars in damages.
The media attention was a lot. It's overwhelming, and Kristene didn't ask for it. We tried to support her as best we could. We even brought her to the #GLAADawards to tell her story. I'm so happy that she continues to grow and thrive, especially after what she's gone through.
