Our shul just sot a barely polite email from me regarding the one they sent out this morning....wanting everyone to provide pictures of themselves to put on a *google* community directory online.

What the absolute fuck? Who is suggesting this to Jewish congregations?

We go to protests. We have lgbtq friends and family we may need to shelter.

And we're Jews. Re-migration absolutely will apply to Jews. It will apply to all non-christians and non-whites. They will strip us all of citizenship and send us deportation orders at some point if the coup cannot be stopped (and they're not going to consent to being voted out, class - and even if they do this time, they won't next time, that's for sure).

There's no need to make it easy for them.

There's no need to give Palentir's facial recognition system more data. (Drivers License picture are notoriously awful, and the right makeup can obfuscate those.)

People, please start taking surveillance seriously. Google data mines everything you upload.

@Leah speaking as an ex-Google information privacy person: you are exactly right. do not trust that company. do not trust any company with your life. we deeply, profoundly wish everybody understood this.

@Leah

If this weren't that common. It happens way too often. But you are right. It shouldn't be the case. We are preaching towards a wall, aren't we? I'm the exot, when I advise against using Google or other big tech.

@Elischeva91

Yeah, I don't anticipate they'll cancel doing it, but I did make it 100% clear that they didn't have our permission to post any photos of us.

PS - I have a lawyer and I'm not afraid to use him, lol.
