Bleurgh. Mowing the front lawn, found a mostly intact but definitely partly eaten rat. Still fresh. Have to assume Clawdia is to blame, she's so territorial I can't see another cat having left it there.
The rat has been interred in the compost heap, under the lawn clipping I just put there. In my experience there will be no sign by the time the compost is ready to spread.
@stephen I am pleased to hear this, cos at one stage a reasonably large rat decided to die in our compost heap (I try not to think what that says about the compost itself)
