Cis people have dysphoria too. They're just allowed and encouraged to do shit about it.
@JessTheUnstill this argument doesn't do anything because there are so so many people that "support trans people in principle" but don't support their medical transition and also don't support gender affirming measures for cis people. their bigotry is naturalism, they don't even distinguish between trans people and cis people (which maybe they should, considering more often than not it is life saving for one of these groups and cosmetic for the other).
@JessTheUnstill i understand the point but I'm not really sure it's the same thing really...
@sophteis @JessTheUnstill There's a theory that's gone around the Fedi that a lot but not all of gender dysphoria is actually cPTSD from gender trauma. I'm convinced that cis people get the other components of gender dysphoria but not the cPTSD symptoms because they usually don't have gender related trauma.
@BernieDoesIt @JessTheUnstill
interesting theory. i definitely think it's borderline impossible to be trans in this world and not develop cptsd in some form.

@sophteis @JessTheUnstill I'm probably as close to that as it gets. My parents never had gendered expectations and told me to ignore anyone who did, and didn't care if I did gender non-conforming things. I rarely did those things in public and didn't get anything major when I did. I'm nonbinary enough that it didn't bother me to be called my AGAB. I really don't have any gender trauma.

But I still have cPTSD because of other reasons.

@JessTheUnstill The secret is that no one is actually “normal,” but for some reason branding is very important. It really is quite scary being a human, and most of the time people avoid heavy stuff - at the expense of someone else’s comfort even.
But yes, it’s actually true, I do sometimes have thoughts/feelings/urges that do not fit in the stereotype of cis male ( or male of any kind for that matter )
I guess I’m a rarity in that I am well past being scared of looking at myself in terms of gender or anything really. But I get it that most people aren’t there. It just makes me mad that some people would rather repress a whole class of individuals just to keep those thoughts at bay.
