Jonathan Freedland:

'To confront the Iranian regime was to walk, with a lit match, towards a tinderbox soaked in gasoline. If it were to be done at all, whether by military or other means, it had to be done with the greatest care. But Trump has blundered in, crushing & trampling all before him, making a bad situation worse. He does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. He does not deserve his war to be assessed charitably. He deserves our contempt'!

Exactly!

Even taking Trump’s confused reasons for the Iran war at face value, it’s still a total disaster

Two weeks in, it’s increasingly clear that the US-led war has taken every problem it aimed to solve – and made it worse, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

The Guardian
@ChrisMayLA6 he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. There is no doubt.

@ChrisMayLA6

I don't read The Grauniad, but does he mention Netanyahu and Israeli atrocities?

@linuxgnome

No, the article focusses on the impact inside Iran for themes part (and the wider geopolitical issues)...

@ChrisMayLA6 His “Art of the deal” itself is a con slogan, to believe he has any expertise in negotiating with other humans is a joke. All he knows is selfishness and bullying when he has an advantage, plus being a sociopath, absent of empathy, everything is about what’s he going to get out of coercing his victims under duress. Now, the STUPID racist marks who sometimes call themselves MAGA are his easiest target by far. Turn on their racism and they’re blinded to being robbed.
