RE: https://mas.to/@trendsbot/116211553284922724

So first the robots will take your salary before they actually take your job. You'll actually get paid less money as you're forced to use these tools with which your CEO yearns to replace you because the machines don't talk back (or only talk back positively because they are so fragile they can't stand to hear the word "no").

This is the dumbest, most jump-the-shark fever-dream moment in tech history and anyone that falls for taking "AI compute tokens as compensation" deserves everything that comes to them when they get replaced by those machines. How much will those compute tokens be worth in unemployment, Todd?

That's right, about as much as your vaporware "options" and "equity" when you get thrown out on your ear. Bupkis.

@SynAck This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read. And I'm a connoisseur of dumb shit, for the giggles.

@Lunalucardrose20 Yes. Yes it is. What concerns me more are the employees that are actually going to take an offer like this. But the fact that they would even think about this tells us all we need to know about the fragile state of the tech industry.

I think the bubble pop is a lot closer than we think it is if they're already trying to pull this kind of shenanigans.

@SynAck This does smell like these people are trying to do every dumb thing that they can think of, before it all falls down.

This stuff makes me look at most cyberpunk dystopias and think "compared to earth in 2026, that doesn't sound so bad."

@Lunalucardrose20 makes Idiocracy seem like highbrow, intelligent cinema
@SynAck I've been trying to think of a modern version for the song lyric "I owe my soul to the company store."
Apparently now one can owe their soul to a company AI.

@Lunalucardrose20

16 tokens and whaddya get?
Another day dumber and deeper in debt
So Saint Altman dontcha call me, cuz I can't go
I sold my soul to the AI techbros
