Defence spending has gone more opaque. Yet another example of this #Labor govt getting more secretive under the broad excuse of '#NationalSecurity'. Oversight of Defence procurement will now be the responsibility of the Joint Standing Committee on Defence (JSCD) taking over from the Parliamentary Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit. The JSCD will be able to take in classified information and hence we can expect anything the committee hears and scrutinises will not be revealed publically.
