F-Droid @fdroidorg is actively refusing to consider “AI” slop even an antifeature, let alone a showstopper for distribution.
*sigh…* Do I really have to audit all the äpps myself as well now? I hate smartphones and want as little involvement with them as possible, especially Android-based ones.
I guess that makes them a collaborator, too.
For now, I removed the offending äpp https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/work_items/3833 from the device.
In the discussion, the dev who originally responded just pointed to the #NLnet pro-AI-but-mark-it-and-we-don’t-pay-for-it policy, while another F-Droid developer started with insults then pulled the “just a tool” card only to compare using #AI with using Windows as development platform, completely losing the plot of slop propagation.
Sad to see another supposedly-FOSS thing die with #fdroid embracing the fashtech. (Not as in using it themselves, but very well as actively welcoming äpps that use it and knocking down any criticism.)
