did a lot of rapid prototyping between yesterday night and today to turn all the accessories for the FPV camera gadget I built around this time last year into a fully wearable kit / functional cybergoth-y outfit.

this has been a lot of learning and playing around with the MOLLE / PALS webbing system. There's a bunch of different ways things can be designed to go together here and I'm still getting my head around how to design for it but it's quite fun.

The dual 9V battery holder is working great (first time printing ASA as well, seems like an ideal material for these) and although the LED badge holder had a design flaw it turns out just cutting it in half made it perfectly usable and secure 😁

The FPV display is *okay* as it is right now but requires removing the back panel by removing screws (which requires bending the carrier to access), which is very unelegant. I would've liked to use MOLLE sticks here but I didn't find a nice way to get printable loops in the right spot or attach fabric straps without interfering with the internals for now...

todo for tomorrow is making two bases (MOLLE loop and wrist strap) for the new camera gadget design, which now features a sliding dovetail attachment to easily move the electronics between different bases.

it's all really *on there*, it might weigh a bit but no worries about things coming loose dancing at all

here's the solution i came up with for the display in the end: just print holes into the flat underside, then snap in loops and skewer it with a MOLLE stick (or can we please call them şiş, like the kebab?). No overhangs and optimal print orientation for strength on both parts :)

@s_ol it looks awesome, what does it do?

@jonbro
the camera is powered by a 9V battery and you can put it on your hand or in some random spot. It sends oldschool analog NTSC video via FM radio and you can see that on the LCD screen or using FPV goggles (that I'm wearing like pushed-up or turned backwards sunglasses as part of the oufit). When you're wearing the glasses a lot of things become fun little games about perspective, like doing things in 3rd person

@s_ol woah, hell yes. I love the second screen on the chest to make it multiplayer.

Are there cameras with integrated vtx, or did you hack something together there?

@s_ol oh I see the transmitter board. Very cool setup!
on a related note: i could put some of these files up on thingiverse/printables/bambuwhatever but none kf these feels very fun so I'd rather put things on my website. Is there any microdata type thing I should maybe know about in this "fabricatable projects" space I should know about?
@s_ol https://manyfold.app/ is the fedi equivalent to those. I'm not aware of anything in the "literally just static files and metadata on a http server" genre.

@s_ol this is amazing work. would be very interested if you are aware of any resources for beginners or helpful tips. I would love to make my own slings in a similar form factor.

@inscript oh should've maybe clarified, the sling was a 5-15€ aliexpress purchase 😅
I don't think it would take very much to reproduce it though!

I saw that the webshop I bought some materials from has been putting up videos about the basic sowing and construction techniques ok their youtube:
https://youtube.com/@tacticaltrim

I haven't tried much of it yet though, so far pretty much all the sowing I've done has been strictly about finishing webbing to make some harnesses and just general straps. You can already do a lot of fun stuff with just that though, and I was thinking about pitching a workshop about it for the next chaos congress maybe :)
