How We Built Monologue for iOS

A vibe-coded prototype, a remote team, and the craft of turning it into a polished product.

@lucaslove Very interesting, thanks for sharing the details! You mentioned a few hours of effort here and there (to clean up the vibe-coded codebase). Do you have any estimate how much that is compared to the total time effort of development? I guess it’s in the hundreds of hours?

@herrherrmann It's difficult to estimate because we completely replaced vibe-coded versions when building out features.

The cleanup and restructuring process is still not finished and will continue while building out new features and bringing the Mac and iOS closer together.

Until launch, the project was ~130h on my side. I estimate that I spent ~25h on pure cleanup.

@lucaslove I see! Thanks a lot for the numbers. :)
