I had a wonderful time yesterday evening at #Maro 's concert in Paris.

To be honest, I'm not that much of a concert person. I'm a big music fan, so I do go to the occasional gig (typically when an artist I love is in town), but I'd usually rather listen to music at home. And indeed, my experience with many of the concerts I attend ends up being "OK", though of course there are exceptions: sometimes the performer is super energetic and puts on an impressive show, sometimes the music has some kind of hypnotic quality and I manage to "get into it"...

But yesterday was different. Sure, Maro is an incredibly talented musician, and her band was too. But what set the concert apart was the outpouring of love and joy, both on the scene and in the audience.

It was actually the first time I went to a concert with the type of fanbase that knows the songs and sings along (when appropriate), randomly shouts "We love you!", liberally makes 🫶s and 🫰s... And Maro was absolutely stoked, and she showed it. She kept going on about how happy and grateful she was to be here, making the effort to mostly talk in French, and just generally interacting a lot and being super expressive.

All in all, a super heartwarming and wholesome evening with a wonderful artist and audience.

This kind of fits with how I appreciate her music vs. other artists' music. I'm not usually very receptive to lyrics (I love singing voices, I just generally don't pay much attention to what they say), but her sad love songs with simple words, her breathtaking voice, her talent and her vulnerability, it all comes together into something relatable and deeply touching.

Another one of the very few artists whose lyrics touch me on sonething of a deeper level is #JacobCollier . He's not exactly known for his artistic restraint, yet some of his songs' lyrics are sober and deep and beautiful.

Funnily enough, I discovered Maro at a Jacob Collier concert ages ago, when she was part of his live band. She practically hadn't any songs out back then! Yesterday was the first time I saw her live since then. Glad to see how she's evolved :)
