Google TV use wifi without internet - Lemmy

I have a Google TV device and whenever my internet drops it refuses to connect to my local shares as well. For example, I’m using Kodi to watch a movie on my share, but then it will say connection is lost and refuse to connect to local resources, even though everything local still works. Has any else experienced this? Is there anything I could do about this?

Its probably using a check to ping google or something. Can you put adguard or pihole in front and see whats its trying to connect to. Or you could try tcpdump to inspect the raw traffic.

Maybe a dns rewrite could sort it or use ethernet or tplink like plugs

Kodi connects to the share via IP though. I’m not sure how the device checks if it has any connection, but it’s assessing it wrong.
