Nicks World@stevenscott It's far from down also, the entirety of mastodon can't go down because servers aren't all together, even if they're federated.
Marco Zehe@NicksWorld @stevenscott Correct. Even if mastodon.social went down, that would only mean that we on other servers would no longer get any posts from people from that server. Amongst ourselves, we can post happily to our heart's content.
@marco @NicksWorld I’m so confused as to how all that works. I was tempted to switch to another server recently but the last time I did it I just felt it was a complete pain in the ass. So I’m guess I’m stuck here which is fine.
@stevenscott @marco It does take a bit of doing, but I've migrated services twice.
