A nice blogpost from a #Guix user who, alas, didn't stick with it (it sounds to me like a lot of their problems were probably due to proprietary nvidia drivers adding instability but it's hard to know) but says a lot of interesting and useful things, including about how nice and empowering being a contributor feels https://nemin.hu/guix-one-month-later.html

Also, yet another Haunt site :)

LLMs Are Taking the Joy Out of Our Lives

My not exactly high opinion towards LLMs and GenAI.

Yeahh, i think i just discovered why my guix config broke cause of this post xD
i didnt find the solution like author did, instead i started seriously considering whether to try the nouveau drivers (hearing theres been good improvement cause of something called nvk) and also decided go deeper into guix than i have till now. I realized especially the breakage due to the finnicky nvidia drivers made me especially averse to touching anything related to my desktop config. If i can play monster hunter with nouveau at approx the same performance i might just stay with it

@schrizoidian I'm very glad to hear my post helped, even if only to get you go back to Nouveau, haha. I must admit I'd be a bit shocked if it can deliver gaming-worthy performance though. Last time I tried it struggled even with basic desktop stuff.

Hopefully the new Nova driver might bring the best of both worlds.

Until then I guess one best sticks with AMD or Intel when it comes to GPUs and Linux...
