Unpopular opinion: these memes always have ‘I am very smart’ energy on Lemmy. The issue is that these companies should support Linux not that your personal taste in video games means it’s a good thing that they don’t.
I don’t play any of these particular games but I have other software that doesn’t run on Linux without considerable effort. So I haven’t switched. My best friend has switched and made the changes necessary and is forever troubleshooting issues.
I realize it’s too late now, but as I’ve posted before on Lemmy: you can “run” Fortnite on Linux well enough by using a game streaming service like Luna or GeForce Now. It’s the only game I run that way on my PC and only because my kids enjoy teaming up with me in BRs.
I mention it because it seems like most people aren’t aware it’s an option (even on Windows, if you want to avoid rootkits on your system). Not for everyone, but you can technically stick to your principles/security and still play (some of) those kinds of games.

Oh neat, I hadn’t even thought of that! I think it’ll be a hard sell to switch him back, but I’ll keep this option in mind. I’m just hoping he grows out of it haha.
My brother has been interested in switching to Linux but he’s into those kind of games too. I’ll recommend him to try it out!
