@eunews or, maybe it's time to stop mentioning people's gender on ID documents. Like, completely eliminate it. There's no actual reason for it.

The thing is that the presence of ones gender on ones identification documents is something that is mandated by
global consensus... So making sure that at least reflects people's lived identities is a lot easier to do than completely omitting it. And even that is proving quite hard to do, actually...
@MxAlba @eunews I'd be quite happy to get rid of that consensus globally as well. ICAO determines what information needs to be on a passport, if they decide gender doesn't have to show up on passports then countries can omit it.
@MxAlba @pq1r @eunews European IDs are really only valid within EU + the few Schengen countries that aren't EU, no reason to keep it on there

Actually I kinda like the fact that my ID card has my gender X/X on it. It has helped me a few times to prove that something other than M/M and V/F actually exists...
