In the novel I'm editing right now there's a dual narrative. One is first person and the other is close third person, so yes, it very much alters the mood. It's even more pronounced because the characters are not only vastly different people but separated by thousands of years. #SFFChat

I've found one of the hardest things to do if you write a prehistoric narrative is humour. Because people super would have found stuff to poke fun at. But it's SO dependent on very specific cultural references.
