Ah yes, we write crap and test it with more crap and assume that something worthwhile will come out the other end... Also humans are VERY creative when it comes to fucking things up (especially in using software), I used to work for a software vendor in the contact centre space, you've never seen
creativity like what you see in a contact centre full of people who REALLY don't want to be there. At one contact centre the agents had discovered that if you clicked on the softphone they were using you would never have a call land so they would sit there for the WHOLE SHIFT holding down the mouse
button. Another contact centre they'd do a "consultative transfer" (where you have a three-way conversation with the customer, yourself and the next agent before handing the customer over) and instead of dropping out they'd just mute their headset.
