@lritter I voted yes, because they are amazing tools and I think they (should) really help people connect, allow for better communication, and help spread knowledge.
Although, I wonder all the time if they answer actual real needs, and I really wonder if we can actually afford them: make them without hurting people and without polluting the planet.
@tomi yep i know that guilt. there is definitely excess: we make faster machines, and this gain is quickly devoured by sloppily written software.
but where we are diligent, software is built like a tank, needs little memory, little hardware and lasts us forever. so this will not go away.
also: we need computers to manage the post-scarce reality that awaits us after capitalism has died.
