Why is adding #Signal to a new PC and to a new phone such hugely different experiences?

I can just install the app on a PC, open it, log in, and get all my messages over there in an instance.

On a phone, on the other hand, I have to switch over my account, so it stops working on the first phone, and then have to go trough an extremely slow transfer of my old messages.

I understand most people only have one phone, but the difference seems weird, no? Especially the difference in message sync

@forteller but to the original question: probably because the account is hardcoded to your phonenumber?
So using it on two different phones is not seen as a vailable option, but mirroring it to a PC is.
@forteller my irritation with Signals is that I can not use two different numbers on the same phone. I have dualsim and both a Norwegian and a German phone number. My Signal-account is connected to the German number and I won't go away from that since all my old conctacts are there.. But since most of my social life now is in Norway, I would like people to find me on Signal with my norwegian number.
@jhamre
If you are on iOS, probably there are no solutions that I can suggest. However, in case you are an Android user, you can install
#molly (molly.im/), which is a #signal fork. Molly and official signal client can coexist on a device. You can signup for signal services with your new number on molly, leaving your original number on the official signal client.
hth..
@forteller
Molly

Molly is an improved Signal app for Android

@gopal @forteller uh, nice. I'll have a look...
