I find it fascinating that I can often trace who taught my kids a concept based on which language they use for it.
At 2-3 the ability to separate languages seems not yet fully developed, so at first they transitioned between German, Dutch and English mid-sentence based on in what language they knew the word “Ben bang voor Katze, Katze not outside”.
