Does anyone remember that post where someone was talking about how homophobia is bad, and a Christian guy came out of nowhere to say it was disgusting anti-Christian bigotry? Because I feel like that's analogous to how a lot of the online left responds to general discussion of antisemitism.
Like, the replies on posts about antisemitism that don't even mention Israel are full of people saying "ANTIZIONISM ISN'T ANTISEMITISM".
People are taking "antizionism is not inherently antisemitic" (correct) and twisting it to mean "all antisemitism is actually just antizionism, and is therefore good" (what).

@BathysphereHat

leftist use "antizionism isn't exactly the same as antisemitism" as an excuse to be antisemitic.

I've yet to see any (!) antizionism expressed by western leftists, directed at a general public (i.e. I exclude any religious arguments and inner-jewish dialogue) which is not antisemitic

@kami_kadse Here is one anti-zionist statement that does not in any way imply a view on Judaism or Jews: The settler movement as it exists today are drivers and participants in the genocide of the Palestinian people. I'ts not just the active settlers who sabotage daily life for Palestinians. It is also any active support of settlements in the occupied areas of Gaza or the West Bank, but planning and facilitating *new* settlements is the worst. @BathysphereHat

@hakona @BathysphereHat

you're shifting the goal post. I didn't talk about "view on Judaism or Jews". I *also* didn't talk about criticism of "the settler movement". (and I didn't invite you to open a whole new topic here)

@kami_kadse It's the same topic, It's an example of antizionism that is not anti-semittic. @BathysphereHat

@hakona @BathysphereHat

you're wrong. doubly so: criticising "the settler movement" is not the same as antizionism, and antisemitism is not (only) expressing views on Judaism and Jews.

there may be overlap. go away.

@kami_kadse The settler movement has taken over and redefined what it means to be Zionist today.

On antisemitism, please enlighten me. I know that the tactics are usually dog-whistles and strawman-attacks but whatever else could an anti-semite be attacking fundamentally than the Jewish people and/or the Jewish religion?
@BathysphereHat

@hakona

you're dropping one dogwhistle after another, and then expect from me to "enlighten" you?

this is not a good faith discussion.

@BathysphereHat People of bad faith will twist anything, just because. Pick your battles, maybe add a disclaimer in a long debate that it's *impossible* to correct all those bad faith statements. The few who still can read and comprehend will know.
