There's really no benefit to something like a reMarkable compared to a nanotexture iPad. I was surprised just how close the textured feel is for drawing, despite the nanotexture not being intended for that purpose. If iOS only included some kind of focused app mode to 'turn off' most of the rest of the OS in favor of a couple of key apps, it would be the clear winner. I really hope they someday upgrade the iPad mini with OLED and nanotexture options, and the thin chassis size of the 13" iPad

@stroughtonsmith I think one of the advantages of something like reMarkable over an iPad (same with ebook readers) is that it's a focused device, so there's basically no distractions when you're using it for it's intended and generally sole purpose.

@stroughtonsmith I would think you could achieve that effect through a custom focus mode. Or am I missing the sarcasm in your post…

Also, of all the ones i've tried, the tips at pen.tips seem to be the best and help writing/drawing feel (and noise) a lot. Much better than the hard Apple pencil tips.

@stroughtonsmith maybe the gap has narrowed, but E-ink devices used to have battery life measured in weeks. I know that iPad in airplane mode can manage multiple days, but still probably less than what reMarkable can achieve.

@vinski for the same amount of usage, I think the reMarkable Pro has worse battery life than an iPad Pro. Their 'weeks' of usage stat is predicated on very, very light usage, I have found. You can run it down in two sessions or so with heavy use
