did you know that SSH has a little-known secret menu?

i wrote a post about this on cohost a while back, but since that site shut down i'm posting it here too

@rebane2001 I tried this myself and it only works with the bash shell, not the fish shell 

And I don't see any fix for it

@nuranyak @rebane2001 I'm using fish as my default shell on both sides of the connection, and it is working for me. Ubuntu 24.04, OpenSSH 9.6p1.

@charette @rebane2001 Very weird. I tried reset my config, it didn't help.

fish 4.5.0, OpenSSH_10.2p1, ArchLinux (on both sides)
