System76 fighting for open source being excluded from Colorado age checks

There's a lot of age checking / age assurance bills going around right now, and System76 have entered the fight in Colorado to help open source.

@gamingonlinux I’m sorry, but this really fits the start of the “first they came for blah…”. Does anyone really think that if they manage to start passing these laws for just **some** operating systems they won’t eventually pass them for **all**?

@gamingonlinux One reason these laws won't work: since Linux is open source, you can download the source code and compile everything yourself. The source code should be protected by the 1st Amendment, so states can't reasonably restrict it, and if you compile everything yourself, there is no "vendor" who has to do anything.
