I honestly don't get how the upper class old money let Trump systematically destroy their money presses. These old rich families must know that their wealth depends on the stability of the political system and American hegemony.

Are they all so greedy and stupid that they don't see the money trees getting uprooted?

All these short term gains and quarter by quarter earnings reports have made them lose the plot.

What they see is that:
- they're creating a world where the rules don't apply to them.. and everyone else is effectively a "vassal" who has no way to escape from anything that is wrong with the current system

The short term pain is a minor annoyance for knowing that they'll be "royalty" engaging in 'infinite wealth extraction" from the vassal class for the next 200 years.
