Rather than talking about the war I'm stuck in the middle of, or the ridiculous government back home that started it, I opted for frivolity and distraction this week.

My Best Picture Preferential Ballot. Note this is what I liked, not what I think will win.

6. Marty Supreme
7. One Battle After Another
8. Frankenstein (truly awful)
Did not watch: Hamnet
Did not watch: Sentimental Value
It's worth mentioning I actively disliked 6-8.

I’ve only seen Sinners, Train Dreams, F1 and One Battle After Another. That being said I heartily agree with your 1,2 vote.
Sinners takes a special spot with me. It’s the only film that immediately after watching the first time I said I need to watch this again. The only thing recent that had that effect was after I read The Left Hand of Darkness. Pretty good company. Train Dreams was close, but it was more like “I want to see more movies like this”

Last night we rewatched Weapons. For my money it's a better film than One Battle After Another and it's not really close.
