@asymco one of the underrated moves Google made in the dotcom bust was buying up fiber for pennies on the dollar. Will Apple be buying data centers for pennies on the dollar in ~5 years?
@chris Buying is not necessary. Just rent or lease.
@asymco TBH I don‘t see a brillant move here by Apple. They missed out because of their own incompetency and got lucky how it turned out.
@kommen Incompetency and luck can only get you so many trillions of dollars and billions of satisfied users before it catches up with you. Five decades is not that long.

@kommen A lot of fumbling to be sure. But competing against luck is an important skill to have.
