@drmambobob I have a very different perspective on this. It's hard to believe now, but in 1998 giant monsters were just not a thing in Western cinema. So when when I saw the American zilla, while wishing it was more like Actual Godzilla and hating that this version is canonically a mutated iguana, it was still amazing to see a pretty convincing giant monster on the screen. (And I think more convincing than any of the Japanese Real Godzilla films up to that point.) Flawed, but beautiful.
