The annual ceremony of the Ig Nobels, a satirical award for scientific achievement, is normally held in the United States. This September it will take place in Zurich after organisers deemed the US “unsafe.”

@universalhub I, as a European, am so looking forward to this! We'll be every bit as Iggy as is scientifically required / (im)probable.
I might even be able to motivate some of our students to attend. igNobels have been a shining example in several of my classes for years...

@universalhub @thatandromeda Much like insurance companies pricing in climate costs, this is the kind of bad news I love to see because it tells me the people running things have started to think this through. That said, surely science isn’t only a European affair?
