@[email protected] @[email protected] Well my electric meter is a 1973 vintage Ferranti spinning disc type. It probably could do with updating, but I'm most resistant to getting a smart meter.
@nowster @neil Smart meter came with the new build house. Gas side has never worked properly, and I have to give them manual readings.
Electricity meter being smart is really useful when you have solar panels, batteries and ev although working out how to minimise bills with such a set up becomes very interesting.
@misingtale on old meters you can have your solar panels dial back your meter. So you buy and "sell" at the same price.
@CjMalone True but in the UK that kind of meter is very rare. They have had a mechanism so it only ever measures incoming in for a very long time. In countries where these are still common you are very lucky to be able to buy and sell at the same price.

It's a shame that you get almost nothing for feeding into the grid legitimately, I hope it's better one day.
