If I post solid data that COVID surges are decreasing, SOMEONE will feel the need to say the don't believe it or that the data isn't reliable. This is the COVID-aware version of vax deniers--they will believe what they want and discount all data and research to the contrary.

3 things can be true at once:
COVID's still a risk.
Long COVID is a concern.
COVID infection risks are falling.

It takes nothing away from appropriate COVID caution to note that our surges are consistently declining. 1/2

To be clear, the fact we've had years of consistently lower surges doesn't mean that will continue. Our plunging vax rate and COVID's continued evolution means risks remain for worse surges in the future.

Being COVID cautious should cause us to celebrate declining risks of infection, not deny them.

I swear there are some rooting for COVID when we should be rooting for humans to live safer lives with lower chronic and acute COVID risks. 2/2

Agreed 100%. The main items to push for here are clear: every person has a right to clean, safe air everywhere — but starting with hospitals, schools, and transit hubs.

It's the only way we can ensure that the next strain/variant/pathogen isn't able to rip through the population again.
