Question for the typography people — what are your favorite non-Helvetica Helvetica-like typefaces? I’m happy to use Helvetica and co. (Neue Haas Grotesk, Unica) but they’re expensive to license. I’m hoping to find an alternative that’s ideally from a smaller foundry and with affordable licensing for a small solo web project.

@ericcarl Apologies for the intrusion and for tooting our own horn. You could take a look at Sets Grotesk. It’s an exploration of the Neo Grotesk style, with optical sizes that dwell on different corners of that model. For something more Helvetica-like, check the S size. Pricing is, we think, super fair considering the generous license, especially for a small solo project.
