Never heard of this Ariosto dude. Apparently he coined “humanism” as a term (albeit in Italian, umanesimo).

Dante Alighieri on the other hand, I do know. He didn’t coin a word. He just created the foundation for the Italian language.

So seems like they’re slightly in different leagues.

Okay, true. What I meant is that he didn’t merely coin a word or two.
