Hmm. House built in 1995. Wiring is decent enough but is definitely not premium grade work. A fan light stopped working. A cheap wireless canopy remote control is in use. Installed by previous owner (which makes it instantly suspect).

Scenario 1: it’s just bad timing. It’s time is up.

Scenario 2: I installed smart light switches in both of the junction boxes in line with the ceiling fan two days before it failed. The wiring for the fan was theoretically untouched.

Coincidence? Or a manifestation of PWMF?

There were no electric shocks, sparks, fires, or explosions. There is no compelling evidence either way. Diagnosis is in progress. Predictions?

I would have thought so too, but.. it seems unrelated. Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong? Wouldn't the ultimate manifestation of PWMF be that it failed because of unnatural natural causes but in such a way to make me think it was something I did? Yeah, that would fit.
