I ran in to an acquaintance at my favorite wine store, whom I'd never seen there before. It turns out he's been shopping there for 30 years, and knows all the same people I do. I've "only" been shopping there for 20 years. I know it's killing you, the place is The Wine and Cheese Cask in Somerville.
@danielpunkass Hahaha, my dad shopped there going back to like the '80s, and I still go in there every once in a while. (Their sandwiches are great.)
@dmoren Unfortunately they changed up their sandwich offerings a couple times since the pandemic. Now they have a "no substitutions" fixed list and it's a fairly unusual ingredient repertoire. No lettuce, for example, only arugula.
https://www.thewineandcheesecask.com/sandwiches.html @danielpunkass I find that they generally will do some substitutions if you’re there and ask nicely. We still get sandwiches from there once a month or so and my wife gets them more frequently since she works around the corner.
@dmoren @danielpunkass Sad the cafe across from it closed. That place had _the best_ scones.
@tankgrrl @dmoren Yes! It was "The Biscuit" née "Panini". When Henry was a baby (2008) I would stroller him around Somerville and Cambridge until they FINALLY opened at 7am :P
@danielpunkass @tankgrrl I still think about their blueberry cornmeal scones and lemon scones. Cannot believe that it's still empty after all these years.
